china is a major player in designers manufacturing. Due to this, Chinas' Old ways are slowly fading. The western civilisation is greatly effecting the way they live.
Persoanlly I believe that they should stay true to their own but let a little lee way for expandment but never completely forget who they.
I wasn't in class this day but am continuing my research

Sustainability and Design
As you already know I am very interested in this topic.
I believe that sustainable design is essential to keep the world turning. Without thinking about the consequences of what we do on the environment we are only going to go down hill.
Fast fashion creates alot of excess waste. With fashion being so cheap and the quality so poor people tend to buy alot of it. Every 6 months they can afford to just throw their worn out garments and replace them without a hassle.
I believe that the solution to this problem is by creating a strong connection with the DESIGNER and CONSUMER. I believe that if this accomplished through forming a connection with their garment, the consumers are then going to have a story behind clothes. If this connection is formed then the consumers aren't going to throw it out, and would rather spend money on maintaining it. This is a cheaper and better for the environment.

Subcultures
In today's fashion there is not nearly as a diverse range of subcultures as there were 30 - 40 years back. In today's world, within fashion we are all clones. The main subculture within today's society are the 'Emos'. But the thought and the concept behind the subculture isn't as in depth as the subcultures back in the time.
The subcultures like the punks and skinheads, have a lifestyle and a concept behind their identity. They have their own values and way of life. But saying that there were some people that just adopted the style but not the lifestyle.
I believe that is is sad that we have turned into sheep, and wear what ever the latest fashion mags are telling us. We don't have our own sense of identity, and it doesn't make the world very interesting.
As consumers we all want to be individual but we are all very aware of the criticism of our peers so stop short off actual innovation within our wardrobes.
How far is too far with what we wear, and to what extremes are we brave enough to go for our own identity.

Luxury
In today's world, the regular trend for fashion is fast, cheap and non-personal. With brands like Supre and Valley girl you don't tend to get the client, designer interaction. But thankfully there is still that little shining gem with the coal.
The luxury boutique Daslu in Sao Paolo in Brazil is one of those shining gems. They offer not only high quality garments from some of the most renowned designers in the world but also services. Within their massive boutique (which resembles more of a small community in a mansion), they have a church, kinderagarten, hairdressers, restaurants and a Helli pad. but one of the most outstanding things that they offer is the exceptional customer service. They provide waitresses to help you with your shopping and everyone one that walks into Daslu feels like royalty and is treated no different the next person.
As an upcoming designer i believe that the relationship between the client and the designer is vital for the creative industry. Expescialy in the day and age where money is a big a problem. I believe to get ahead of this ressesion, designers need to offer a point of difference not only in their designs but their customer service.
If people know that they can go somehere, a retreat, and know that they will be treated like celebrities they will want to go there to forget their worries.

Mens wear
Through the topic of Menswear I have decided to bite the bullet and take on the challenge of designing mens wear. If This is succsefull in semester one then I will continue it on to my final semester.
Through further research I have learnt that men don't dress to impress the other sex, but to impress each other. They dress to communicate their status and to tell the other guys that this is who I am. They sometimes dress to challenge social conventions and in doing this they also challenge the other guys to question them.
Uniforms are a big way of showing status and to tell the other guys what you rank in society and in your job. This is why uniform is a huge source of inspiration for mens wear garmnets. Power and domince are two major aspects in mens wear clothing and why guys dress.
Some other questions That i want to answer through further research include:
* Has there always been an emphasis on men’s fashion or is it a recent thing?
* Has men’s fashion crossed social boundaries through the time?
* Is there a sense of judgement within the world of men’s fashion as there is with women’s?
* Is there a big difference between men’s and women’s wear? Has that line been crossed?
* Is there any scope for creativity within menswear?
